Ultra-light. Aerodynamic. Engineered for speed.
The Avian CR5 is a premium carbon wheelset designed for riders who demand exceptional performance without compromising on stiffness, reliability or ride quality.
At just 930g for the 40mm version, the CR5 is remarkably light, delivering rapid acceleration and an exceptionally responsive feel on the road. Its advanced carbon construction combines a high proportion of T1100 carbon fibre with Avian’s FreeFlow technology, helping to optimise fibre continuity and improve the strength and stiffness of the rim.
Loop
Under traditional process, the main section of the rim is constructed of 4 piece of fibre, so it is easier for workers to handle and fasten the manufacturing speed. We use one piece of fibre instead, the integrity of carbon fibre increases rim strength but skilled and patient workers are required.
T1100
High proportion of T1100 and Free Flow technology that enhances the continuity of fibre.
Off-centre
40MM is off-centre design to ensure similar tension of drive side and non drive side.
The CR5 uses Avian’s lightweight aero carbon spokes, weighing just 1.7g each. The spokes are designed to provide high stiffness and aerodynamic efficiency while remaining individually replaceable, making the wheelset practical as well as performance-focused.
A carefully engineered off-centre rim profile on the 40mm version helps balance spoke tension between the drive and non-drive sides, while Avian’s small-flange hub design is intended to balance the high stiffness of the carbon spokes with improved comfort and cruising efficiency.
At the centre of the wheelset are lightweight CNC-machined hubs with TPI ceramic bearings and a durable 36T ratchet system, delivering smooth running and efficient power transfer.
The CR5 features a hooked, tubeless-ready carbon rim, giving riders the flexibility to run either clincher or tubeless tyres. The upgraded rim construction has also passed a 110J impact test, providing additional confidence for high-performance everyday riding.
Available in 40mm, 50mm and 60mm depths, the CR5 offers a choice of setups depending on whether your priority is minimum weight, all-round performance or increased aerodynamic efficiency.
For riders looking for a genuinely lightweight, high-performance carbon wheelset, the Avian CR5 delivers flagship-level technology in an exceptionally fast and responsive package.
Purim
Not only paint free. Under Purim technology, the raw rim is already close to painted rim so only need to be slightly polished and thus reserves more strength and stiffness.
